Sidemount isn't just for cave divers anymore and neither is the Nomad. Worn with single tanks, doubles, sidemount or rebreathers, the Nomad EXP is a complete harness and wing system with 60lbs of lift. Popular with tech divers for its trim characteristics as well as open water divers wishing to transition into technical diving down the road.
The latest design in sidemount gear, the Nomad EXP integrates the harness, wing and buttplate into one, continuous rig. Trim is achieved by keeping the top of the wing narrow, allowing more lift at the bottom, which is ideal for rebreather and sidemount divers where heads-up buoyancy can be an issue. Single and double tank divers can limit and/or shift lift as needed by tightening the Gusset Control System (GCS) that is woven through tabs on the front face of the wing.
The Nomad EXP is available with a single bladder or dual bladder and comes standard with a 12-inch corrugated hose, a plain elbow, a 15-inch low pressure inflation hose and a 2-inch crotch strap. Alternate length hoses are also available. Optional sidemount bungees with stainless steel clips and quick links.
Note: Single tank divers will also require a pair of cam straps, which are not included. Double tank divers will also require a set of TransPac Stability Plates, which are not included.
The Nomad Expedition Rig is completely customizable as follows:
- Available in sizes M, L, XL, XXL
- Choice of single bladder or dual bladder wing
- Choice of 12-inch, 16-inch or 22-inch elbow corrugated hose along with either 15-inch, 22-inch or 27-inch low-pressure inflation hose. Common configuration is 16-inch corrugated hose with a 15-inch low-pressure inflation hose for an average 6-foot, 225lb man. Please adjust according to chest size, height and individual preference.
- BUNGEES available in 11, 13, 15, 17, 19-inch or any custom size you prefer. Common length when sidemounting tanks with a stage strap and choker is 13-inch for an average 6-foot, 225lb man. Common length when sidemounting tanks using the bungee system only is 17-inch. Petite individuals may opt for 11-inch and 15-inch respectively. Broad individuals 15-inch for stage strap and choker or 19-inch for sidemount using bungee system only.
Note: Dive Rite is happy to SHORTEN any bungee length if you find what you ordered is too long. Call us and send them back using our standard RMA process. However, if you order the bungees too short, we CANNOT lengthen them.
Please note this is a special order and may take 3-4 weeks from our suppliers. Please do not hesitate to call and we can find a more accurate time scale at that time.
Dive Rite was established in 1984 by Lamar Hires and Mark Leonard; two underwater cave explorers and cave diving instructors from North Florida. In the 1970's and early 80's, technical diving gear was virtually non-existent. Most cave divers made their own gear or adapted ocean diving gear to fit the cave environment. Lamar and Mark changed that and began the first technical dive gear company in existence. Pioneering products such as the Classic wing and the canister light, they introduced to the scuba industry the very first products designed for underwater exploration. In 1991, Dive Rite became the first manufacturer to launch a Nitrox-compatible computer called the "Bridge." In 1996, Dive Rite revolutionized the dive industry with the launch of the TransPac harness.
Since those early days, Dive Rite has grown from thirteen products to over three hundred products. In 1997 Lamar Hires bought the company and has grown the company from a fledgling, North Florida dive gear company to a worldwide dive equipment manufacturer with distribution in 23 countries all over the world. Twenty years after the first primary dive reel was sold, Dive Rite's pioneering spirit continues with the innovation and quality that goes into each and every product. Dive Rite has a proud history of supporting dive exploration, conservation and education, putting Dive Rite in the unique position as a leader in the worldwide technical diving marketplace.
How to learn a unique way of buoyancy control resulting in a more streamlined profile that reduces drag making finning and moving through the water easier and more efficient.
Attain a greater comfort level as sidemount equipment and harness can be custom fit to each individual, accommodating divers of all shapes and sizes.
How to take advantage of many skills including learning how to help any divers with any disabilities, as you carry the cylinder(s) separate from your harness to the water. Whilst within the water you would then attach your cylinders and weights, making the entries and exits to dive sites much easier.
Learn safer options in terms of air management as you have an easier access to your cylinder valve(s), first stage(s) and alternate regulator should a problem arise.
How to configure equipment learning that one harness and BCD does it all. This statement is now true as the same sidemount equipment you use, can be used for more advanced types of diving i.e wreck, technical and cave diving.
