New in 2008, Halcyon has introduced the next generation of its popular Explorer lighting series, including a range of enhancements that are sure to expand upon the popularity of this trend setting line of Halcyon lights. Each Halcyon light is individually tested to 90m with a unsealed cord.

A new, brighter bulb together with a unique locking bulb design (patent pending) is sure to enhance performance; meanwhile a space age polymer known as PEEK insulates the new socket design. The high temperature resistance of PEEK (644 deg F) insulates Halcyon light sockets from damage common to some other lights. Meanwhile the brighter bulb is shorter with an exterior sleeve, reducing the risk of breakage. These new enhancements expand upon the range of unique Halcyon features already present in the Explorer series, setting a new bar in underwater lighting systems.

If you're going to get a HID torch, then this is the one you need. The 9/21 combo has a 4 hour burn time which when you consider how bright it is, is truly incredible!! The 21W HID has the punch you need to penetrate through some of the murky waters commonly encountered in UK water. The great thing with the NiMH battery is that it is far smaller, and far lighter than its Sealed-Lead-Acid brother, meaning that it isn't unreasonable to take this on holiday with you. (Although I'd be taking it in a peli-case with me as hand lugage). The reflector isn't fixed and you can move it for a varying focus ... if you require a precise spot for team communication, then move it all the way back, if you require illumination of an area for video recording, then move it all the way forward to de-focus it and diffuse the light as much as possible. This is the best torch for the job - hope you enjoy!
